Olivier Louineau
Meet Olivier, our Project Delivery lead. When he’s not guiding our project managers, you can find him in the middle of nature, or maybe even on top of the Andes ⛰️
What does a relaxing day look like for you?
My perfect relaxing day starts with some coffee, a long breakfast, a newspaper, or books. I usually choose a busy place with all kinds of people moving around. I like to imagine their life or personal story. My day continues with 20+ kilometers of running. Next, I might go for several hours of walking in the forest to watch birds, plants, and insects or to take pictures.
My brain seldom stops coming up with multiple, parallel ideas, options, reminders, concerns. Only sport or nature can calm it down. As a result, I need those moments to recharge my batteries. Strangely enough, it is in those moments, when I think of nothing, that my most creative solutions to professional problems show up. To nicely end the day, let’s not forget a good evening meal shared with some friends.
What’s your favorite holiday destination and why?
As a child, I watched a BBC documentary where a helicopter was flying over the Andes. I was stricken by the beauty of those images. Many years later, my first flight ever was to Peru. I was wondering if the reality would be as beautiful as my dreams. It turned out to be better. I fell in love with those landscapes. In the mountains and valleys, I met people with a rich history and culture. To be able to communicate with them, I studied Spanish and went back over there more than ten times. My dream is now to walk across the Andes, from South to North, over 7000+ kilometers.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Which month do you mean? The one I wanted to be a scientist, a doctor, a painter, a comic drawer, a writer, an astronaut, a journalist, a cyclist, an informatician, an explorer, a teacher, a coach, an agronomist, a politician? And it never really stopped. I still have some days where I would like to be president of a given country to influence the course of decisions, find out more about how life started, or simply have the life of Mike Horn. I keep reading a lot about most of those topics. So, what about giving me a life for each of them?
More seriously, today, I prefer to think in terms of skills and competences. How do I create opportunities to use all of them: creativity, logic, curiosity, communication, rigorousness, emotional intelligence, ability to establish links between different ideas, situations or topics, and more? You will need to tell me if some of them are real or if I keep dreaming.
