TenForce Recognized as a Key Innovator by the European Commission
AI-PROFICIENT Connected Worker Solution on the Innovation Radar
The European Commission’s Innovation Radar has named TenForce a Key Innovator for its role in the AI-PROFICIENT project. This recognition showcases TenForce’s commitment to transforming industrial landscapes through its innovative connected worker solution.
The AI-PROFICIENT project, part of Horizon 2020, unites research institutions and technology providers in a collaborative effort to enhance EU manufacturing productivity. Targeting a 10% increase in Overall Production Efficiency (OPE) and a 50% reduction in low-quality product output, the project integrates human expertise with AI (Artificial Intelligence), IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), and AR (Augmented Reality).
TenForce’s key contribution to AI-PROFICIENT is the development and implementation of a connected worker solution for the additive manufacturing industry. TenForce has combined EHSQ (Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality) software, image recognition, AI algorithms, and wearable technology to optimize raw material use, addressing challenges in manually adding additives to feeders. Due to labeling issues and operator fatigue, the process was error-prone, with the potential for operators to pour the wrong additive into feeders, leading to significant product loss.
Working with INEOS, TenForce implemented a solution where operators utilize wearable devices to scan labels. ML and AI interpret labels, cross-referencing them with feeder requirements and providing instant feedback. This application, which significantly reduces human error, highlights the potential of ML/AI to tackle operational challenges in continuous chemical production.
The Innovation Radar, a European Commission initiative, identifies high-potential innovations emerging from EU-funded research projects. Drawing on information gathered by independent experts, it evaluates market potential and impact (details about the methodology available here).
Jan Van den Nieuwenhof, CEO of TenForce, reflected on the achievement, saying, “TenForce’s recognition as a Key Innovator is a reward for our efforts to advance AI/ML technology and drive operational excellence in industrial workplaces.”

About Innovation Radar
The Innovation Radar is a European Commission initiative to identify high-potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and innovation projects. Our goal is to allow every citizen, public official, professional, and businessperson to discover the outputs of EU innovation funding and give them a chance to seek out innovators who could follow in the footsteps of companies such as Skype, TomTom, ARM Holdings, all of whom received EU funding in their early days.
